Difficult labor:

Small but powerful pilot idea

Anyone interested?

Here is an idea, that is small but powerful. Would anyone be interested in the following as a starter?  It’s a retrospective observational pilot study.

We define a set of  serious complications related to prolonged labor.  Examples might be  prolonged labor and failed forceps with a baby with low Agars or prolonged labor and serious fetal or maternal trauma. Final criteria to be determined.

We would reconstruct their labor curves and show their statistical analysis.   Since this is a research project we could provide percentile rankings of both dilation and station.

We would also be able to see the heart rate analysis using PeriCALM Patterns.  I believe we would learn a lot by looking at such cases and if you wanted we could compare them to a group of normals. My preference would be to start small and see what we find before moving to a large project. Once we have the data I don’t think it would take me more than a couple of weeks to do the analysis.
